There are two classroom style knowledge development sessions covering mermaid culture, safety considerations of swimming in a tail, breathing techniques for diving, varying ascents and descents, swim strokes, how to choose mermaid gear, etc. There are two confined water sessions working with technique, swim drills and skills. The PADI Swim School curriculum is built around the concept that there is a shared core of aquatic skills that every person needs to know to be proficient in the water.
