  2. KEO - Mangrove Clean Up

    Mangrove Clean Up This is a fun and different activity as not only do participants take part in a clean up and Boat Cruise! Typically 3hours, we meet at our Boat Launch point located near the Club. Our introduction briefing covers the importance of mangroves to our ecosystem, information on what mangroves are and the animals that live in them, as well as talk about ocean debris. Dana the Dugong always joins us for this activity too. As with the beach clean up, we will use the Clean Swell App, and tell participants how they can become citizen scientists using the app. We also do an instructional and safety briefing.     Reef Check is a global organisation combining education and research to help protect reefs and oceans. As a Reef Check surveyor you can contribute to reef conservation efforts and dive for minimal costs while helping with surveys! At the successful completion of this course you will be awarded with Reef Check International EcoDiver card. As a Reef Check EcoDiver and a Reef Check UAE volunteer you will be able to participate in monthly survey dives which will help us understand the threats our local marine ecosystems are facing by collecting valuable data. Upon completion of the course you will also join a team of thousands of volunteer Reef Checkers around the world so you may choose to apply your new skills elsewhere because Reef Check is operational in over 90 countries worldwide! If you are interested in knowing more about our marine environment, collecting data from our local reefs and getting more out of your dives, this course is exactly what you are looking for!

    ***Youth castaway Island on Red Tin Roof Island*** Includes kayak hire, guides, survival provisions, learn how to make a shelter, learn how to use a compass, kayak to the castaway island (approx 2km), learn how to make a fire and fire safety, how to set up tents and cook your own foods and food safety and use some of the skills learned over the wilderness discovery.
